Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

  • Description

    The barrel leg pant sewing pattern

    Iggy is a pair of high-waisted pants that sit right at your natural waist and feature a barrel-leg cut. These pants have deep pockets set into the side panels, and darts at the hem create the signature barrel look. The front closes with a fly and two buttons, and the back has an elastic waist so you can move comfortably and easily.

    Medium to heavy weight fabrics such as twill, denim, suiting, linen, linen blends, or canvas.

    All-purpose polyester sewing thread, sewing machine needle, point turner, coil zipper, two 1/2” buttons, 1 1/2” elastic, and lightweight fusible interfacing

    Refer to size chart for amount of fabric needed for your size.

    00 – 30

  • Sizing & Fit

    Sarah is wearing a size 00 with 1/2" added to the waist and 1" added to the hip. We shortened the inseam 1" and increased the front and back rise length 3/4". Her measurements are bust: 30 3/4" (78 cm), waist: 23 1/2" (59.7 cm), hip: 35 1/2" (90.2 cm), and she is 5'3 1/2" (161.3) tall.

    Iman is wearing a size 18 with 1" reduced from the waist. Her measurements are bust: 44" (111.75 cm), waist: 36 1/2" (92.75 cm), and hip: 47 1/2" (120.7 cm). She is 5'9 1/2" (176.5 cm) tall.

    Our Misses patterns are drafted for a C cup and our Curvy patterns are drafted for DD. Both are drafted for a height of 5'8" (172 cm).
