Are you ready to up your sewing with knits skills AND make a great layering piece? Well, meet Milo! Milo is a knit cardigan with a modern silhouette, featuring a great mix of details to hone your skills.

In this class you’ll learn:


  • How to choose fabric and supplies for this project

  • Loads of tips for sewing knits if you don’t have a serger

  • How to sew knit patch pockets, cuffs, a neckband with buttonholes, and a hem band

Learn to Sew a Cardigan

Here’s what you’ll need for this project:


  • The Milo pattern

  • Medium to heavyweight knit fabric

  • All-purpose polyester sewing thread

  • Ballpoint sewing machine needle

  • Ballpoint twin needle

  • 1 yard of knit interfacing

  • Six 1” buttons for version 1, five 1” buttons for version 2

  • Optionally: 1/4 yard knit stay tape for reinforcing your shoulder seams
