Beginner

Beginner sewing patterns teach the most foundational sewing techniques. These patterns focus on the basics like sewing and finishing straight and curved seams, hemming, and simple shaping methods such as darts and gathers. In addition, beginner patterns omit closures, making them perfect if you are new to sewing or are looking for a quick and easy make.

Advanced Beginner

Advanced Beginner sewing patterns expand on the skills learned at the beginner level, helping you to build confidence and range as a sewer. You'll find simple knitwear projects, bias tape finishing techniques, and begin to explore closures at this skill level.

Intermediate

Intermediate level sewing patterns focus on more precision sewing. In this skill level, you'll learn specialty closures. Intermediate patterns also introduce the skills needed for simple lingerie and athletic wear projects.

Advanced

Advanced sewing patterns require great precision and time investment. You'll find tailored pieces in this category with elevated details like bound buttonholes and welt pockets.

  • Fabric & Supplies

    Nylon Lycra swimwear fabrics with 4-way stretch and 60% - 80% stretch. Fabrics with 2-way stretch will not work for this pattern. Felicia is wearing Reese in an Ivory Ribbed Spandex Knit and Crosby is wearing Reese in a Mauve Ribbed Spandex Knit. Both are from Blue Moon Fabrics.

    Swimwear lining fabric with 4-way stretch and 60% - 80% stretch. Lining fabrics with 2-way stretch will not work for this pattern.

    All-purpose polyester sewing thread, ballpoint needle, ballpoint twin needle, 1/4” swimwear elastic, 1” swimwear elastic.  Optional: 2 molded foam bra cups

  • Sizing & Fit

    Felicia is wearing a size 4, graded to an 8 at the waist and hip. We added 1/2" (1.25cm) to the torso length. Her measurements are B: 34 1/2" (87.5 cm) W: 29" (73.5 cm) H:39" (99 cm) and she is 5'8" (172.5 cm) tall.

    Crosby is wearing a size 18 from our 12 - 30 size range, graded to a 16 at the waist and hip. Her measurements are bust: 45 1/2" (115.5 cm), waist: 36" (91.5 cm), hip: 47 3/8" (115.5 cm), and she is 5' 10" (177.8 cm) tall.

    Our Misses patterns are drafted for a C cup and our Curvy patterns are drafted for DD. Both are drafted for a height of 5'8" (172 cm).
