Elm is a timeless, gender-expansive robe drafted for easy comfort. With its straight fit and relaxed silhouette, Elm drapes beautifully in your favorite woven fabrics.

The robe features a shawl collar with a facing, dropped shoulders and patch pockets that are sewn into the side seams. A waist belt offers the option to cinch for a personalized fit. Elm is perfect for layering, lounging, and everything in between.

Fabric Ideas

Fabric recommendations: This robe sews up best in lightweight to medium-weight woven fabrics such as linen, flannel, double gauze, terry, waffle, lawn, voile, rayon challis, silk, rayon crepe, or silk georgette.

Billy is wearing an Elm robe in Cotton Waffle toweling from I See Fabric. Waffle is such a good choice for this pattern. It’s soft, textured, and can absorb some moisture if you are straight out of the shower. If you can only find a knit waffle fabric, it should still work, as it’s typically not too stretchy.

Iman is wearing an Organic Double Gauze from Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics, which is such a cozy option for this pattern. It’s so soft against the skin and it has an ideal drape for a robe.

Fitting Tutorials

This robe is designed to be forgiving in fit. It has enough ease that you don’t need to worry about chest adjustments. The most important area to fit is your shoulders. Here are some tutorials that will help:
